Q) What are the benefits of the right master cylinder on Polaris ATV’s?
A) Having a right hand master cylinder that controls only the front brake calipers provides more precise braking control in situations where you need it. Increased brake torque can be achieved because one can actuate both the left hand and the right hand master cylinders at the same time and the pressures are added together at the calipers.
Q) How does the system work?
A) The right hand master cylinder works through a special control valve which allows two master cylinders to be connected to and control the same calipers.
Q) Does the system meet the ANSI-SVIA performance requirements for ATV brake systems?
A) Yes it does. Section 4.1 states: “All ATV’s shall have either independently operated front and rear brakes, or front and rear brakes that are operated by a single control, or both…” Section 4.1.1 states: “Independently operated front brakes shall be operated by a lever located on the right side of the handlebar…”
Q) Do I compromise the existing brake system when I install this kit?
A) Absolutely not! The existing brake system will continue to function in exactly the same way as it did before.
Q) Is vehicle safety increased?
A) Yes! More brake torque is available if necessary! More precise braking control is possible! The right master cylinder is there for people who are used to motorcycles or other ATV ’s.
Q) Are any special tools required for installation?
A) No. Installation requires only typical tools that are readily available.
